Purple Party Freestyle Nite - Sat 24th Nov

A fun and friendly Purple Party Freestyle Nite in Oakham. The evening starts at 7.30pm and continues right through until 1.30am, with a fantastic range of music being played. This is a venue with a great atmosphere and a superb floor where everyone will make you feel welcome.
There is a short ice-breaker class early in the evening and a cabaret performance later.
As it is such a long evening, complimentary snacks are being provided at around 11pm to help keep everyone going and there is a licensed bar too.
The theme is 'Purple' and there can never be too much of it. Try top-2-toe or opt for a subtle accessory or two - the choice is yours.

The Smooth Lounge at Maidstone Friday 16 November

The Smooth Lounge is a winning combination of smooth music - less of the pop and more of the blues, swing, tracks where you can play with musicality, plus some West Coast Swing and Tango music.
Teachers Jim & Nicky teach a smooth jive class which gets the night going but also pushes you to learn some lovely new smooth moves.
DJ John Miller needs no introduction, running Great Bookham dances for over 10 years plus DJing at all the big dance weekenders, his reputation on the modern jive scene is second to none.
The good thing about The Smooth Lounge is that all Modern Jive dancers can dance to all the music, you don't need to change your dance style to fit in. We fit the music in around you.
Dancers from Kent, London, Surrey, Sussex, Essex and Hertfordshire have all travelled to experience the Smooth Lounge. A candlelit atmosphere with lots of yummy chocolates on the tables finishe s off the night nicely.
Class starts at 8.15pm. Dancing til 11.30 - 11.45pm. Parking available in the Fremlin Walk car park (Earl Street).

Funeral Service for Godfrey Sherratt: 20 Nov @1.15

As many of you will know, discovering Modern Jive opened up a new lease of life for Godfrey, and helped him make many new friends; he was a real character, and well known within many dance organisations across the Midlands.
Godfrey passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 10th aged 70. If it is of any reassurance to you all, Godfrey’s daughter has said that his death would have been very quick, and he would only have felt unwell for a few moments.
The funeral service will be held at Loughborough Crematorium next Tuesday, November 20th 2007, at 1.15pm. The family have expressed that wearing black is not a necessity.
Family flowers only, please. Donations if desired can be made to STEPS c/o H. Towell Independent Funeral Directors, 97 Swan Street, Sileby. Telephone 01509 814404.
Following the service, you are invited to return to The White Swan, Swan Street, Sileby. The family would like to get an idea of numbers, so if you wish to attend, it would be extremely helpful if you could please let Jacqui Sherratt know at: jacquis38@tiscali.co.uk

Are you ready for this year's Want2Dance Burton November Ball on Sat 24 November?? Their November '06 & Spring '07 Balls were both sell-outs, and all tickets have now gone for this one! We do not pack you in like sardines, therefore places are limited for safe and comfortable dancing. So if you wanted to attend, but haven't got round to buying your ticket, it is still worth getting your name down on the Reserve List, as we do sometimes have cancellations. Sorry, but there will be no tickets available on the door.
