2008 Weekenders, Holidays, Competitions

www.modernjive.com has just been updated with all the Modern Jive Weekenders, Holidays and Competitions that have been announced so far for 2008 - nearly 50 of them!
Visit England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Barcolona, Granada, Sierra Nevada, the French Alps, Turkey, Malta, Portugal or Wales!
Combine your dancing with sunshine on the Australian Gold Coast, snow sports in the French Alps, cruising in the Mediterranean, scuba diving off the Great Barrier Reef or just relaxing and enjoying the local atmosphere.
There are competitions in Australia, the UK and New Zealand. Most of them are weekends of dance with workshops and freestyles as well.
All these events are great opportunities to learn from great teachers, make new friends and dance the night away.

New Buckley Venue - The Academy / Zoot Serious

Are you bored of Sunday Nights with nowhere to dance??? Well now there is ! - DanceJive launches it's new venue this Sunday the 9th December at The Academy in Buckley. This will be a fabulous night of Modern Jive, with instructor Neil Diack. 7:45 - 10:30 (or possibly 11!) - With a full sprung floor, fabulous sound and light, and a fun and friendly atmosphere, this promises to be 'the place' to be and be seen on a sunday night. For those local to the area, you'll know the venue as the former Albert Hall, famous across North Wales, South Cheshire and the Wirral. The Academy is a new venue dedicated to all forms of dance, bringing together some of the areas leading instructors to teach everything from Jive to Bellydancing, Salsa to Pole Dancing - The only venue of it's kind in the area... Within easy reach of Cheshire, Wrexham and the Wirral. Teaching Modern Jive to Federation Level (United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing), we teach the LeRoc Modern Jive footwork which enables dancers to dance to time, with structure and allows Style to be added whilst keeping to the same beats to each move. This enables the dancers to raise their ability but still be able to dance with dancers from other venues.

Brand New WCS Class in Farnborough

MorethanMoves new weekly class in Farnborough launches this month, expanding the availability of WCS classes outside London and providing classes and at least 1.5 hours of freestyle every week at this fabulous venue with an amazing semi sprung floor.
With the use of the GSDTA teaching syllabus for the beginners patterns this venue will soon plant itself firmly on the map, with 2 beginner classes for the first 5 weeks to help kick start your WCS understanding and knowledge.

Lincoln's Premier dance venue, The Lawn, will be ringing its festive bells to the sounds of CHASER for its Xmas & New Year joint party. The four piece band will making sure the dance floor is kept full with modern jive favourites from the best Soul/RnB/Pop/Funk/Dance tunes.

Alcester/ Stratford fire-fighters Freestyle

Want2dance is holding a fundraising event for the families of the firemen who died attempting a local rescue. The event will be held at Greig Hall, Alcester, on the 7th December.
There will be 2 rooms for you to dance in. The main room will be the modern jive room and the othere will be the blues room. we want to raise as much money as possible for the families so tell as many dancers as you can
There will be a raffle on the night, again with all money going directly to the families.
