Mini Weekender! Leeds Day of Jive, Saturday 5 July

Multiple championship winning dancers, Peter and Amy, will be leading four of the ten workshops held during the day. Their workshops are: Jive Technique, Dips & Seducers, Advanced Jive and a Style. Having been to their workshops at Southport, we know that most of their material is adaptable to either jive or blues.
There's a range of other local and guest instructors coming to teach the other 6 workshops, which include,: Tango taster, Intro to Drops and Seducers, Street Dance, Double Trouble (x2) and Burlesque. These are all suitable for all levels of dancer.
The venue opens and 10am and the first workshops kick off at 10.30. Each workshop will last 1 hour and 15 mins.
The evening freestyle starts at 8pm and features a cabaret performance from Peter and Amy. There are 2 dance rooms - Modern Jive in the Ballroom and Blue upstairs (where else!). To give you the taste of Southport - we've enlisted D J Blueshoes (or Frank to his friends!) to look after the blues room. Resident DJs Matt and Emily will be keeping you dancing in the Modern Jive room.
The cost of the day (including free entry to the freestyle) is £32 if payment is received on or before 4 July. Paying on the day will cost you £35.
If you can't make it to the workshops, the freestyle night is open to all for £10 (£8 concessions with proof).

Jatinder Singh is instructing this Tango based modern jive workshop and wants to increase the teaching times so he can fit it all in. so to speak. So our new workshop time is 13:00hrs till c.16:30 allowing for some more great moves and a chance to really improve your style and technique with his video display. All for no extra cost!

American Independence Day Freestyle

The 4th of July is the perfect excuse to celebrate all things American...
Whether it is simple red, white and blue, full on Stars and Stripes, cowboy hat and boots (maybe not spurs...?) or cheerleading pom poms - it really is up to you. Be as bold as you dare! There will be prizes for the most imaginatively dressed, but dressing up is not compulsory of course.
The evening will start at 7.30pm and as you might expect there will be an American influence to the music. With a mainstream feel right up until midnight you can expect a change in tempo when things mellow down to the 1.30am finish with an After Midnight Blues Session.
There will be complimentary snacks available, and in addition there will be a 'sharing table' so if you want to bring along something with an American flavour to share - fantastic!
This event is being held at The Harpur Suite in Bedford which lends itself be autifully to an event of this kind particularly with its 1.30am finish.
