1. UK Leroc Champs 2008 Results!
I am delighted to announce that Paul and I came away victorious again from the 2008 Leroc Champs, hosted by Sherif of Leroc UK at Weston-Super-Mare, 26 July! Not only did we manage to defend our WCS title but we took 1st Place in Showcase too! Congratulations also to our very own Pete & Amy who took 2nd Place in both categories and to Steve Hunt who took 3rd Place in WCS partnered by the lovely Zoe Witheridge. (Pete & Amy were also triumphant in Miami the weekend before with Peter making finals and Amy taking 2nd Place overall in Novice Jack & Jill!) Congrats go to all other participants! 2. West Coast Swing Wednesdays 3rd Year Anniversary Party & Workshop Weekend – Sat 9 / Sun 10 Aug – Earlier Start Time!
Can you believe it’s that time again! West Coast Swing Wednesdays has been going from strength to strength for almost three years and remains one of the best weekly classes in the UK! It is bigger and better than ever before with a full team of dedicated local teachers, some of the worlds top guest WCS teachers including Kyle Redd, the Roystons, Myles & Tessa and Heidi (Groskreutz) Burns appearing throughout the year and dancers attending from all over the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and even New Zealand!
We have managed to secure the fabulous…and big…New Windsor Community Hall for the weekend of Sat 9 / Sun 10 August to celebrate! On Saturday night, please join us for our annual party complete with ice-breaker class, fun Jack & Jill comp, cabaret, extended freestyle time and prize-giving for the “Most Improved Male / Female Dancer”. Also for the second year running the “Dancers Choice” awarded to the most popular male and female dancers selected by our West Coast Swing Wednesdays regulars. We’ve extended the night too by bringing start time forward to 7pm so lots more opportunity to dance!

About the Jack & Jill:
This is a relaxed comp with the main focus on fun and socializing. The idea is that you enter alone and will be drawn to dance with random partner/partners to a track/tracks chosen by the organizer.
The only rule is that you must be dancing social West Coast Swing. The judges will be looking for good basic footwork and technique, and partnership skills. Merit will be given for confidence and musical interpretation.
There are no dress rules although smart appearance would be appreciated. Come on guys and girls, break out the sparkles!
The music will be defined as Slow and Fast (not that fast, I promise). You will rotate partners at least once. There will be Prelims (All), Semi-Finals (Approx. Half) and Finals (5 Couples).

3. John Lindo Makes His Debut Appearance at West Coast Swing Wednesdays – Wed 13 Aug!
For the first time at West Coast Swing Wednesdays I am delighted to announce that WCS legend John Lindo will be teaching class on Wed 13 April! He will be teaching an all-important Basic WCS FUNdamentals class suitable for all levels, followed by a WCS Patterns class for Intermediates. Our Repeat Beginners session will run in the second room as usual. Something for everyone so make sure you don’t miss it! He will be available for a limited number of private lessons before the class. So if you wish to be placed on the waiting list, please email cat@westcoastswing.co.uk.
For those of you who do not know of John Lindo, he is a professional WCS teacher, dancer, coach and competitor across the United States. Paul Stevenson of Pulse Dance joined in collaboration with Catriona Wiles at the start of the year to provide a regular monthly WCS workshop & Tea Dance in Nottingham.
